South Georgia Pecan experienced a disastrous busy season in 2015. The agency they were working with implemented a new inventory system and website, and the project was a complete failure. To illustrate how bad things were, on Cyber Monday, a customer service rep had to manually enter hundreds of orders received in their website into their inventory system so they could be processed for shipping.
At the end of their busy season in early 2016, they were left with a low performing eCommerce website and a slow, glitchy inventory system. The company’s leadership was prepared to shut down the retail portion of their business if things didn’t turn around soon.
One of the biggest problems that South Georgia Pecan faced is that their backend systems could not keep up with the volume of orders. The company had some very specific requirements, and we spent months vetting new inventory systems and eCommerce platforms. We spent a lot of time at the company’s retail gift shop to get clear picture of how orders were processed and handled. Taking all of their requirements into consideration, we found an eCommerce platform and inventory system that could handle their needs and had the flexibility for us to program around any shortcomings. We set out to design a beautiful, responsive eCommerce website that was built to make buying their delicious products as easy as pecan pie.
The new site launched in August 2016 and integrated directly with their inventory system and HubSpot. We setup workflows to encourage repeat purchases and developed targeted campaigns through Facebook, Instagram and email marketing. When their harvest came in, we published a video that received over 150,000 views.
